Community pools: DeFremery (Oakland, summer-only), ECCL (Emeryville), Roberts Pool (Oakland Hills). McNears Beach is in the Marin dashboard.

Best kid features: East Oakland Sports Center (indoor water park with slide + lazy river + zero-depth entry), San Leandro Family Aquatic Center (waterslide + zero-depth + water play structure), Larkey Park (Walnut Creek — All Abilities Splash Pad + slides), Heather Farm (Walnut Creek — summer inflatables).

Warm-water options: Trefethen therapy spa (Mills/Northeastern, 103-104°F), Richmond Plunge (historic indoor saline natatorium), Berkeley YMCA (one of two indoor pools is kid-warm).

UC Berkeley drop-in policy: Spieker / RSF / Hearst do NOT take public drop-ins. Strawberry Canyon (seasonal May–Oct) and Golden Bear (year-round indoor) DO accept the public — verify current rates on UC Berkeley Recreation site.

Skipped (private members-only): Bay Club, Equinox, ClubSport, 24 Hour Fitness, Athens Plumas Club, Claremont Country Club, Orinda Country Club. These have pools but no general public family-swim access.

Pleasant Hill YMCA (~40 min from SF, ~20 min from Berkeley) is included because it has the most generous family-swim hours in the YMCA East Bay network — worth the drive on weekends.

⚠ Pool schedules change frequently — verify before you go
Schedules in this guide are accurate as of April 25, 2026, but pool schedules change frequently and pools may close for maintenance, weather, or staffing without notice. Always confirm by calling the pool or checking their website before heading over. Each pool card has a tappable phone number and website link.

If today's date is later than September 2026, this guide is almost certainly out of date — most outdoor pools transition to or from summer schedules in late spring and again in early fall.
